Preceptorship

Preceptorship is 'a period of transition for the newly qualified registrant during which time he or she will be supported by a preceptor, to develop their confidence as an autonomous professional, refine skills, values and behaviours and to continue on their journey of life-long learning’
We are committed to providing all newly qualified registrants from all disciplines a period of preceptorship within each Care Organisation consisting of Bury and Rochdale, North Manchester and Oldham.
Our preceptorship is based on the the Flying Start NHS which is a national development programme for all newly qualified allied health professionals, midwives and nurses
The programme has been designed to support your transition from student to newly qualified health professional by supporting learning in everyday practice through a range of learning activities such as pre induction e-learning, bespoke off the job preceptorship programmes, a minimum of 4 weeks supernumerary status and the access to a dedicated support team working in partnership with the ward / department management team.
There is a Trust wide generic preceptorship package which accompanies specific learning outcomes depending on your placement area.
