Who is the service for?
The unit is a 10 bed bespoke medical unit that care for patients with a medical condition who are also living with dementia.
What does the service provide?
The unit has been designed with the patient in mind and this is reflected in the environment. Patients benefit from receiving treatments for many medical conditions whilst also being assessed by trained mental health nurses who are based in the unit. We also provide other treatments such as reminiscence therapy whilst the patient is with us.
Who will patients meet while under your department’s/service’s care?
The unit is run by registered nurses, registered mental health nurses, support workers and volunteers and care delivery is overseen by medical staff from the Clinical Assessment Unit.
When is the service available?
The unit is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. We operate an open visiting policy with guide times of 09:00-22:00 but all hours can be facilitated. We encourage family members to be part of the patient’s journey and welcome your input and guidance. Taking meals with relatives can also be facilitated on request.

The unit is located on level B at Rochdale Infirmary.
