Acute Medicine Bury

The Acute Medical Team provides a high level of specialist assessment and treatment to those admitted with medical emergencies.

After initial assessment and diagnosis in another department, often Accident and Emergency, patients may be transferred into this team’s care.

Why might patients be referred to this department?

Patients will be referred into this department by doctors after arriving at the hospital with a medical emergency, which subsequently requires ongoing, specialist treatment.

What will happen and who will you meet?

The Department is staffed by a cohort of Consultants in Acute Medicine, specialist doctors, experienced nursing staff, therapists, health care support workers and trainees. There are also receptionists and administrative staff who work within the units to support clinical staff.
