Nutrition & Dietetics - Community Paediatric Dietitians
Who is the service for?
The team provides face to face consultations for infants and children aged 0 to 16 years living in the borough of Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale. The team provides a service to young people up to the age of 19 in Special Schools
We accept referrals from Community Paediatricians, GP, Health Visitor, School Health Practitioner or the Children’s Community Nursing Team. We also accept referrals from Speech and Language Therapists
The team will see children with tube feeds, allergies, faltering weight or other conditions requiring a special diet
What does the service provide?
The Nutrition and Dietetic service aims to:
- Assess current dietary intake
- Provide individual advice and adapt current diets to meet dietary requirements, taking into account therapeutic needs
- Educate and support children and their parents/carers on the management of the therapeutic diets
Who will patients meet while under your department/service’s care?
Caroline Hook Paediatric Dietitian –Provides a service to Redwood and Newlands Schools, a weekly general dietetic clinic and a monthly feeding clinics. Also does home visits to children under school age
Kathryn Guest Paediatric Dietitian- Provides a service to Springside Schools and a weekly general dietetic clinic . Also does home visits to children under school age
Debbie Finnigan Dietetic Assistant- Organises and delivers feeding equipment. Also assists the dietitians in the Special Schools
When is the service provided?
Monday to Friday 8.30 to 4.30
Where is the service provided?
This service is provided in the community across the borough. Patients may be seen:
- In their own homes
- At school or in nursery
- In general dietetic clinics at Room 033,Ground Floor, Croft Shifa Health Centre, Belfield Road, Rochdale
At joint feeding clinics with Speech and Language therapy at Callaghan House, off Green Lane, Heywood or Croft Shifa (as above)
