Awards shortlist hat-trick for Salford (part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group)
25 January 2019

Salford Royal (part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group) and its partners have been shortlisted in three separate categories in this year’s Health Service Journal Partnership Awards.

The awards showcase the most effective partnerships between the NHS, private and third sector.

The three shortlisted partnerships are:

Best Clinical Service and Treatment Pathway Transformation Project

  • GM OG surgical service with NHS Transformation Unit, Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership and Salford Royal

Oesophago-gastric (OG) surgical services across Greater Manchester are now delivered by Salford Royal, integrating services from Wythenshawe and the Manchester Royal Infirmary, making it the biggest single OG surgical centre in the UK. The OG cancer single service is part of Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership’s devolution plan to achieve the fastest improvements in health and wellbeing, experience and outcomes for the region.

Clinical Support Service Award

  • Stericycle Bio Systems – Reusable sharp containers service with Stericycle and Salford Royal

Salford Royal’s partnership with Stericycle provides a more sustainable sharps management service, using Bio Systems reusable containers. The containers can be reused up to 600 times and are a more sustainable option compared to traditional single-use sharps containers.

Healthcare Analytics Provider of the Year

  • Implementation of Patient pathway Plus RTT Data Management Software - Insource and Salford Royal

The Patient Pathway Plus system standardises our Referral to Treatment (RTT) management processes and outcomes. The system has become part of the Standard Operating Model across the Northern Care Alliance with the solution being embedded at the other Care Organisations this year.

The finalists were chosen from a competitive field of leading and innovative partnerships through a rigorous judging process. This will culminate in a series of live presentations to judging panels in February where the winners will be decided.

The awards will be presented on 20 March at the Westminster Park Plaza in London.
