Parentline offering Text Health Advice

Parentline offering Text Health Advice
15 July 2020

The Health Visiting and School Nursing Team at Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale have identified a gap in the system for parents and carers with children aged 0 – 19 years.  Setting up the service means patients/carers no longer have to worry alone as they can text the team about any child health development issues they are concerned about and the team will message them back confidentially with the most up to date information or if necessary set up an appointment or signpost them to the most appropriate service.

The service is open 09:00 – 16:30 Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).

Victoria Thorne, Divisional Director of Nursing and Therapies said “This is a great service set up and managed by our Health Visiting team and School Nurses.  Listening to our parents in the community we know that Parentline will be a welcomed addition to our community services and a valuable resource for our parents and carers.”

The range of issues Parentline cover include topics that are connected with health development for children, from sleep, feeding, breastfeeding to emotional health, self-harm, bullying and minor incidents and illnesses.
