The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group (NCA) has appointed new Chief Officers for two care organisations within the group.

Following a rigorous assessment process, Nicola Firth and Simon Featherstone have been appointed as the Chief Officers of Oldham Care Organisation and North Manchester Care Organisation, respectively.

Nicola (main pic) has been carrying out the Chief Officer role at Oldham, on an interim basis, for the past 16 months.

Meanwhile, Simon, (pic below) currently Director of Nursing for North Manchester, has excelled in his current role and has demonstrated the abilities and character needed to be successful as a Chief Officer. Both Nicola and Simon will continue their Director of Nursing roles at the care organisations. Simon replaced Damien Finn as Chief Officer at North Manchester on September 1st. Damien remains as Finance Director and has a new group role as Group Chief Improvement Officer.

Chief Executive of the NCA Group Raj Jain said:

"Our Group Chairman, Jim Potter, and I, are delighted to announce that Nicola Firth and Simon Featherstone have been appointed as the Chief Officers of our Oldham Care Organisation and North Manchester Care Organisation.

“Our Director leadership teams for our four Care Organisations play a pivotal role in the smooth running of our services and in supporting staff and teams. We are sure that all colleagues will welcome Nicola and Simon and support them in their exciting but challenging leadership positions.  Both will assume their Director of Nursing roles as well as the Chief Officer.

“All of our Chief Officers for our Care Organisations are in permanent positions and, importantly, are led by people with clinical backgrounds.  Our mission is that patients and service users are at the centre of what we do.  For our Care Organisations to be clinically led is hugely beneficial and important to this mission and the future success of our services across our NCA Group.”

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group brings together five hospitals, 2,000 beds, specialist and acute services, a range of associated community healthcare services, and over 19,000 staff across Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
