NAHEED Nazir, Group Associate Director Inclusion and Engagement at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group (NCA), has won a ‘highly commended’ in the Head of Diversity and Inclusion award category at the national Inclusive Companies Awards 2019.

At the awards it was also revealed that the NCA is ranked no 24 on the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List, one place higher than the previous year. The list was topped overall by Sky.

The NCA brings together the Salford Royal and Pennine Acute trusts operating hospitals and community services in Salford, Oldham, Bury, Rochdale and North Manchester.

This year the awards were hosted by Good Morning Britain Presenter Sean Fletcher in Manchester.

Naheed Nazir, Group Associate Director Inclusion and Engagement at the NCA said:

“It is an honour and a privilege for me to be highly commended in the Head of Diversity and Inclusion award category at this year’s Inclusive Companies Awards. I think this award exemplifies all the hard work the Northern Care Alliance’s Inclusion & Engagement team has put in over the last year, really raising the profile of our BME, LGBT staff and recognising the specific issues people from all faiths, cultures, genders, ages, disabilities and backgrounds face in the NHS. I am also over the moon to see the NCA move up one place to become the 24th most inclusive organisation in the UK.”

The Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List is a definitive list of UK based organisations that promote inclusion across all protected characteristics, throughout each level of employment within an organisation.

Demonstrating the promotion of all strands of diversity including age, disability, gender, LGBT, race, faith and religion; the list focuses on representation at management, senior, executive and board level.

Compiled by a dedicated panel of judges, organisations featured have provided sufficient evidence on an amalgamation of topics including recruitment procedures, training and a host of diversity related initiatives.

The Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers List recognises the outstanding efforts of organisations that have begun their journey to attracting and retaining a truly diverse workforce, achieving equality, diversity and inclusion at its purest form.

Paul Sesay, founder and CEO of the Inclusive Companies Awards, said:

“This list presents the very best of UK companies who are integrating an inclusive culture right from the top of their organisations; no one size fits all, and the breadth of initiatives is a reminder of the importance in innovation and diversity of thinking for all employers.”
