Memorial bench unveiled to remember health care assistant Joan
Colleagues have paid tribute to Joan Zenzuck (pictured right) with the unveiling of a memorial bench at North Manchester General Hospital. The health care assistant worked on Ward E3 before sadly passing away unexpectedly earlier this year.
Those who knew her at the hospital put money into a collection in her name. Half the funds were donated to ‘The Big Issue’ – Joan’s chosen charity and the rest was invested in a memorial bench which sits in the ‘breatheasy garden’ at North Manchester General Hospital, near C block. Her family came to the hospital to see the bench unveiled in her name and were touched by the kind gesture from staff.
Rebecca Farrell, Ward Manager of E3, said: “Joan was a HCA on Ward E3 at NMGH and has worked for the Trust for many years. She was much loved by all the team due to her friendly nature and ability to be there for each and every staff member.” The bench is somewhere her friends can come to reflect and remember her fondly. The breatheasy garden is a quiet space open to everyone; staff, patients, relatives and visitors.
