MBE for services to physiotherapy for Victoria Dickens
Congratulations to our colleague Victoria Dickens who has been recognised in the New Year’s Honours List with an MBE for her services to Physiotherapy.
Vicki is the Northern Care Alliance’s Director of Allied Health Professionals and Consultant Physiotherapist and Clinical Director for Orthopaedics at Salford Care Organisation.
We are so proud of Vicki who says it has taken some time for the fantastic news to sink in.
She said: “I’ve had to keep re-reading the letter telling me about being awarded an MBE. I then spent the next few days with a massive smile on my face. I am honoured and humbled to receive an award at this level. I love being a physiotherapist and thoroughly enjoy every day at work. The people that I work with are inspiring and amazing and I am delighted that the work we do has been recognised in this manner.”
Elaine Inglesby-Burke, Chief Nurse for the Northern Care Alliance, said: “Vicki is a wonderful member of the team and absolutely deserves this recognition for her services to physiotherapy. Patients using Salford’s services have been long-standing recipients of Vicki’s passion, dedication and expertise and within her Group-wide role, we’re now enabling staff and patients at all of our Care Organisations to benefit from her leadership and knowledge.”
Vicki graduated from Pinderfields College of Physiotherapy in 1993 and earned her Master of Science (MSc) in 2002. She specialised in musculoskeletal conditions in 1995 and worked at various NHS organisations before coming to Salford. When she was appointed Clinical Director in 2013, Vicki was the first physiotherapist to hold such a position in tertiary care. She was appointed as the Northern Care Alliance’s Director of Allied Health Professionals earlier this year in addition to also continuing her Consultant Physiotherapist / Clinical Director of Orthopaedics role at Salford.
