A new improved partnership forged between the University of Manchester Medical School and the Trust means the Trust is now due to teach even more doctors as a Teaching Hospital Trust.

Baby Minnie makes history at The Royal Oldham Hospital with new MRI scan

BABY Minnie Macfarlane from Lees in Oldham made history when she was 11 days old.

Born on 11 March 2016, she was the first baby at The Royal Oldham Hospital to undergo a landmark scan using new equipment which allows new born babies to have MRI scans.

New Rochdale “Provider Partnership” welcomes over 200 community care staff as part of new multi-disciplinary neighbourhood teams

OVER 200 community based care staff from a variety of backgrounds have this week transferred to work for The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (Rochdale Infirmary) as part of a brand new integrated health and social care service for Rochdale borough.

A new £9m contract to deliver a range of community health and care services through integrated teams across Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale came into force on 16 May 2016.

THE Trust has won a prestigious international award beating off stiff competition to win the ‘NHS Clinical Research Site’ award at this year’s Pharma Times International Clinical Researcher of the Year awards.

New Trust Volunteers' Service

On 1st June 2016 the Trust will be launching a new Volunteers’ Service across at all four of its hospitals and community services. Volunteers play an important role in our Trust by providing non-clinical support to our healthcare professionals on our hospital wards and departments. 

As part of the launch we will be hosting some drop-in volunteer information sessions on the dates below. The sessions will be on a rolling programme basis, each lasting 30 minutes.

  • Wednesday 25th May, Post-Graduate Centre, NMGH - 1-4pm
  • Thursday 26th May, Education Centre, FGH - 1-4pm
  • Friday 27th May, Education Centre, Royal Oldham Hospital - 9am-12pm
  • Wednesday 1st June, Education Centre, Rochdale Infirmary - 9am-11am

New Intermediate Care Unit at Rochdale Infirmary

Staff based at Rochdale Infirmary and our partners in the borough were celebrating a milestone for the integrated services in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale when the intermediate care unit moved into its new home on the Rochdale Infirmary site recently. This 24-bed unit is a five star environment for patients who will be looked after by a multi-agency integrated health and social care team. The official opening of the unit is planned for July.
