Trust welcomes Dr Gillian Fairfield as new Chief Executive

Dr Gillian Fairfield started work as the new Chief Executive of the Trust on 1st April. Since joining she has been busy meeting with staff and patients alike as well as setting out her vision for the future direction of the Trust.

Gillian said: "I am proud to have been chosen to take on this exciting and challenging role and look forward to helping the Trust deliver on its mission to provide the very best care, for each patient, on every occasion."

New website goes live

We have unveiled a new look website which has been designed around the needs of patients and visitors following involvement from a number of the Trust’s patient groups.

The website contains a variety of patient and visitor information about us, our services, our quality and performance, our reports, news and member events.

New medical unit for dementia patients opens at Rochdale Infirmary

A brand new medical unit developed purely for patients with dementia from Rochdale borough has been officially opened at Rochdale Infirmary.

Commissioned by NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Clinical Commissioning Group, the Oasis Unit is a new five-bed facility.

First class care for women recognised at The Royal Oldham Hospital

Women who suffer with a painful gynaecological condition can now be assured that they can get first class care from an accredited treatment centre.

The Royal Oldham Hospital has been registered as a British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) endometriosis centre, following a stringent audit of work carried out at the centre.

Prestigious honour for North Manchester General Hospital consultant

Professor Andrew Rowland, a consultant in paediatric emergency medicine at North Manchester General Hospital, has been made a ‘Churchill Fellow’ having been awarded a prestigious 2014 Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship.

Doctors and nursing staff at Rochdale Infirmary’s 24/7 Urgent Care Centre (UCC) are preparing for what they expect will be a busy couple of weeks as local children break up from school for the Easter holidays.

The British Lung Foundation team and the Pennine Acute Respiratory Team have joined together to provide a new integrated lung service.

Pathology handbooks

Access to the Trust's pathology handbooks can now be gained via our Intranet for all practices that use our tQuest electronic requesting system.

NICE move Dr Finigan!

Our consultant midwife in infant feeding, Dr Val Finigan, has been invited to become a topic specific member for the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) postnatal guidance update group.

Following an interview, Dr Finigan was successfully appointed and her role will be to provide information specifically related to mother-infant bed-sharing.
