The hospital has good bus service links, with over 30 buses an hour serving bus stops at the hospital site during the day. The main bus services are the 42, 52, 53 and 118 with a further seven bus services serving numerous locations.

North Manchester General Hospital is a short walk (5-10 mins) from both the Abraham Moss and Crumpsall tram stops on the Bury line. To view a walking route map from Crumpsall Metrolink, click here.
The hospital is located off Delaunays Road, Crumpsall. Follow signs from A576 Middleton Road or travel along A664 Rochdale Road, turning onto Middleton Old Road, then onto Old Market Street, until it becomes Delaunays Road. Access to the hospital site is also available off Crescent Road and Charminster Drive.
When You Arrive
The hospital has four building entrances, these being the Main Entrance on Crumpsall Way, Entrance 1 opposite Car Park 1, Entrance 3 (The Quad) and Entrance 4 both off Central Drive. Accident and Emergency has its own entrance off Central Drive. Patient and visitor parking areas are identified by green signage and are numbered 1 to 4. These numbers relate to the entrance they are nearest to. The nearest parkign area for Accident and Emergency is Patient and Visitor Car Park 2. Drop off/pick up areas (orange signs) and some further small areas of patient and visitor parking, plus some blue badge parking are located near to the Maine Entrance, Entrance 1 and Entrance 3 and some departments within the site itself.

Taxis are permitted to drop off and collect patients and visitors at all hospital entrances and locations signed or marked as drop off/ pick up areas.

Ambulance and special cases
In a medical emergency, where the need is critical, or life-threatening, patients or their carers should dial 999 for a paramedic-led ambulance response. NHS Choices states that ‘it will generally be obvious if the patient, or someone else, is seriously ill, or injured, and will need emergency care’. A medical professional may also call for an ambulance on your behalf where this is appropriate.For non emergencies, other use of ambulance transport is based on agreed eligibility criteria, according to the medical needs of the patient.
Help with travel costs
You may be able to claim a refund under the ‘Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme’ (HTCS) of the cost of travelling to hospital or other NHS premises for NHS-funded treatment or diagnostic test arranged by a doctor or dentist, if you are in receipt of certain allowances or benefits.
