Moving Forward Through LeadershipThanks to his approach of focusing on patient safety, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) has become one of the few UK trusts to receive an Outstanding rating through the CQC. At The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust we are fortunate in having exceptional leadership which champions both patients and staff. This was recently strengthened thanks to us coming under the shared leadership of the SRFT led by Sir David Dalton. Now, with David and his team sharing their knowledge and experience with our leaders, we look forward to adopting new and improved ways of working. This will see us addressing areas which can be enhanced while at the same time complementing the strengths of each location. Another exciting recent appointment is that of Professor Matthew Makin who joined us in March 2016 as new Medical Director. Previously Medical Director at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, Matthew was born and bred in Manchester. So, we were delighted to welcome him back. Matthew's commitment to his profession and passion to lead his clinical teams effectively has led from success to success throughout his career. This is something he is now continuing at The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust as he gives us the benefit of his experience and expertise. His clinical background is in General Medicine, Palliative Medicine and General Practice, while his academic interests have been research into the cause and treatment of Cancer Pain, and Clinical Ethics in Medicine. With such great leadership shaping our Trust, there has never been a more exhilarating time to join us on this exciting journey. |
