The Equipment Store provides equipment and adaptations for people who require help to improve daily living or assistance when recovering from an illness in the community.
We are jointly run by Northern Care Alliance NHS Group and Bury Council to help provide the most appropriate and effective support available.
What we provide
We can provide equipment or adaptations to help with the following:
- Mobility
- Moving and handling
- Bathing
- Showering
- Using the toilet
- Access (wheelchairs, ramps, stair lifts, lifts)
- Pressure relieving

The team have developed an equipment catalogue with details of what is available from the service.
How to access the service
Before you are given equipment or an adaptation is made, your needs will be assessed.
If you are in hospital, this will be done by a therapist, who will refer to us to help you be discharged safely. We may also carry out a further assessment of your home depending on your needs.
If you are already at home, a community nurse or GP can assess your needs and then make a referral to us.
You can also refer yourself, or get a friend or family member to make a referral for you. Please see the contact details below.
