PAT Annual Public Meeting - 22nd September 2021

During 2020/21 Pennine Acute operated from four main sites at North Manchester General Hospital, The Royal Oldham Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary, and Fairfield General Hospital.  The Trust has continued to deliver high quality services to our local population and has risen to the challenge of dealing with the Covid pandemic.

Throughout 2020/21, we have worked to finalise arrangements through which Pennine Acute will be dissolved as a separate Trust and the formal and legal transfer of ownership of North Manchester General Hospital to Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and the Oldham, Rochdale and Bury sites to Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust as part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group.  The transfer of North Manchester General Hospital site, services and staff to the ownership of Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was completed on 1 April 2021.  The transfer of the Bury, Oldham and Rochdale sites, services and staff to the ownership of Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust is due to be completed on 1 October 2021.

In preparation for the formal legal transactions, during 2020/21 two management agreements came into effect through which Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust assumed responsibility for managing services at North Manchester General Hospital on our behalf and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust continued to manage the Oldham, Rochdale and Bury services on our behalf.

This has meant that while the Pennine Acute Board has remained ultimately responsible for all activities in the Trust, all the day-to-day management of services in 2020/21 was undertaken by Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust.  As a result, this year’s Annual Public Meeting will focus on the technical aspects of the PAT Board’s role in presenting the annual report and accounts.  Reporting on performance and achievements will be covered by the separate Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust Annual Members Meetings, which will be advertised by those organisations.

The Pennine Acute Annual Public Meeting will be held on Tuesday 22 September 2021, 10:30am, via the Microsoft Teams website.  If you would like to attend, please email ezmi.mulhearn@pat.nhs.uk by Friday 17 September at 5PM, including your full name and the email address on which you wish to be contacted. We will send a web link to your email and you can view the meeting on any device (smart phone, tablet or computer / laptop).
