Noelia Arenas - Staff Nurse
Spanish Nurse helps to rehabilitate patients at Fairfield
Noelia Arenas from Madrid trained in her home country of Spain for four years, qualifying as a Nurse in 2014.
Noelia explained, “I realised I wanted to be a Nurse at the age of 17 when my Grandma was in hospital. I wanted to work with people and to help people.”
It was difficult for Noelia to find a Nursing job in Spain and found that her skills weren’t being used in the care home role that she had. Noelia then moved to England in 2015, having been successfully interviewed for a job at Fairfield General Hospital.
Noelia is now a Band 5 Staff Nurse on Ward 18, which is a rehabilitation unit. Talking about her passion for helping people, Noelia said, “When you see people getting better it’s so rewarding. It’s nice to see people improving after a few weeks and how the team works together to make a difference to the patients.”
In the 18 months that she has worked at Fairfield Noelia has had a great experience working for the Trust, “People have been very welcoming and I had a good three week long induction. My team are very good, I have lovely colleagues and I am happy in the job. I have been able to learn new things and my English has improved.” Noelia went on to say “It’s been a good experience so far. It’s very different to Spain. Working for the NHS is good – it’s one of the best in the world!”
