What type of roles can we offer you within The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust?

There are a number of roles within the Trust’s hospitals other than Doctors and Nurses, that are integral to optimising patient care and safety. Below is a sample of the different roles and employment opportunities available within the Trust.

Pharmacy

With a variety of career opportunities - operating as a clinical specialist, manufacturing of sterile medicines or becoming involved with the management of the department - you will become an integral member of the NHS team.

Radiography

  • Radiographer – with the opportunity for further training for roles as Sonographers and Advanced Practitioners
  • Sonographer
  • Specialists in Advanced Radiographic Practice – specialists in reporting on various scans, e.g. CT and MR
  • Mammographer
  • Nursing roles
  • Assistant Practitioner
  • Radiography Support Worker– with the opportunity to progress to the role of Assistant Practitioner

Pathology

  • Biomedical Scientist
  • Associate Practitioner– e.g. Point of Care Testing and Laboratories
  • Biomedical Support Worker

PIP Service (Personal Independent Payments Service)

  • Qualified, registered professionals such as Nurses(adult, child or mental health registered), Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Paramedics

The Support Services Division also engages healthcare professionals as Disability Analysts in support of the Welfare Reform Agenda.

What training or qualifications do you need to join us?

Professional roles such as Nurses, Pharmacists, Radiographers, Sonographers and Biomedical Scientists require specific relevant qualifications, usually at degree level.

Advanced Practitioners require a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or DCRR, State Registration – HCPC, and a master’s degree qualification or evidence of working towards this, and some postgraduate qualifications in a specialism.

Foundation degrees are undertaken whilst in employment for Associate Practitioners.

Pharmacist - following completion of a master’s degree and one year’s practical training you will be eligible to qualify as a Pharmacist.  Further development, clinical diploma, prescribing qualification and managerial qualifications are available and supported.

Pharmacy Technician- following completion of a BTEC and NVQ Level 3 you will be eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician.  Further development includes Medicines Management, Clinical Trials, IT, Homecare, Procurement, Aseptics, and Managerial opportunities.

Pharmacy Assistant – you will gain an NVQ Level 2 through in house training.  Roles include Medicines Management, Dispensary, Aseptics and Supply Services.

Assistant Practitioner and Biomedical Support Worker roles are available through the apprentice schemes with supportive on the job training.

Applicants for Disability Analyst roles must satisfy additional Department of Work and Pensions recruitment checks and undertake specific on the job training in order to become a recognised Analyst.

“I have worked as a Diagnostic Radiographer for more than three years and have progressed to a band 6 Senior Radiographer during this time. Radiology is ever changing so we keep up to date on the latest techniques, equipment and our practice.
