Who is the service for?

The Service is for both clinical and non-clinical professionals to ensure they have a means to transport supplies, mail, samples and similar items they require to perform the services they are providing.

What does the service provide?

The service provides non-patient transport for the transportation of cargo and staff from site to site throughout the trust and within the community either by scheduled service runs, shuttle bus, round robin or taxi.

Who will patients meet?

Patients are unlikely to meet members of the transport service team.

When is the service available?

The Transport Department is available Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.30pm with services being provided 24/7 by in house drivers or contracted taxi firms in line with the trusts Hospital and Community taxi policy.

Where is the service provided?

The service is based at purpose built Transport Facilities at the The Royal Oldham Hospital, Rochdale Road, Oldham, OL1 2JH and North Manchester General Hospital, Delaunays Road, Crumpsall, Manchester, M8 5RB.

The hospital switch board is available out of hours to arrange a limited range of transport services.
