Who is the service for?

The Care of the elderly and rehabilitation service aims to provide acute and rehabilitation care for the elderly residents of  Bury, Oldham, Rochdale and North Manchester.

What does the service provide?

The services provided to elderly patients are comprehensive and extensive and include Medicine for the acutely unwell older patient, Stroke, TIA clinic , Dementia, Early Supported Discharge, Rehabilitation, Ortho-geriatrics, Bone Health, Syncope, Falls, Intermediate Care, Nursing Home Case Management and Movement Disorders Parkinson’s Disease. 

Who will patients meet while under your department’s/service’s care?

Rehabilitation Consultants, Staff Grade doctor, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Support Workers, a Consultant Psychologist and Speech & Language Therapists.

When is the service available?

The rehabilitation and care of the elderly service is available 7 days a week for all emergency referrals and Monday to Friday for non-emergency outpatient referrals from your GP.

Where is the service provided?

Outpatient services are provided at each hospital site within the Trust with the exception of Birch Hill in Rochdale.
Inpatient treatment is provided at Fairfield Hospital, North Manchester and The Royal Oldham.
