Bereavement Service

Who is the service for?

Families and friends of patients who have passed away in hospital.

What does the service provide?

The service performs a variety of administrative functions following the death of a patient, for example, it arranges for the issuing of the Medical Cause of Death Certificate and other bereavement related paperwork to the next of kin, and liaises with outside agencies.

Who will the patients meet?

The public will meet a Bereavement Officer.

When is the service available?

The offices are open Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m.

Where is the service provided?

There is a Bereavement Officer based on each of the hospital sites. On some sites, the staff are located within the General Office/Patient Administration Office.
