Tudor reigns as visionary health partnership invests in court’s future
An extensive refurbishment at Heywood’s Tudor Court has been officially opened after a special ceremony attended by scores of people from across the local health community.
The enhanced facilities include a new look ground floor area, utility rooms, a new administration area, refurbished kitchen areas and extra space for residents to relax and recuperate.
The work at the residential home has been carried out thanks to investment through the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Health and Social Care Partnership.
Attending the reopening event were local councillors, health dignitaries, Tudor Court staff, residents and their friends and family.
Tudor Court is a key part of Rochdale's award winning Intermediate Tier Service, which offers a short-term step up option away from hospital, supporting individuals from their own homes who require a period of rehabilitation to enable independence and a safe return home.
Rochdale is ranked in the top ten, of 152 local authority areas across the country, on how health and social care partners work together to reduce the strain on NHS services.
Councillor Iftikhar Ahmed, cabinet member for adult services, said:
“The refurbishment is a proud moment for the local health community as we continue our investment to ensure the very best health services are provided across the borough. Tudor Court is a fantastic facility, popular with residents and their families. We are thrilled to have one of the best health and social care systems in the country and our success is thanks to hard working staff at places like Tudor Court.”
Steve Taylor, managing director of the Bury & Rochdale Care Organisation at The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust said:
“We have revamped Tudor Court thanks to the council, but that is only really part of the story. I know recently there has been a lot of focus on integrated care but at Tudor Court we have social care staff, healthcare staff, mental healthcare staff, discharge coordinators working together in a different way; it is great to see and is the bedrock of our future strategy.”
