Not just for doctors & nurses - Careers & Volunteering Event at Fairfield General Hospital – 18 June
MEMBERS of the public are being offered the opportunity to take a closer look and find out more about careers and volunteering at hospitals run by The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust in a special event being held on Saturday 18th June (11 am – 3 pm).
The free event will take place at the Education Centre at Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, BL9 7TD and is open to the public, staff, students from local colleges and trust members.
Over the course of the day Trust staff from a number of professions – including nurses, porters and physiotherapy assistants, IT and admin assistants as well as volunteers – will be on hand to talk about their roles and to answer any questions about their work, their experiences and the type of qualifications needed for jobs in the NHS.
Joanne McAllister, Volunteers’ Co-ordinator at Pennine Acute Trust, said:
"Whether you’re thinking of a career in healthcare, or you’ve got a bit of time on your hands and you’d like to volunteer, this event is a brilliant opportunity to find out first-hand about how you can become part of our Trust and the many different ways you can get involved or gain valuable experience".
The event is part of the Trust's ‘Medicine for Members’ series of events which are held regularly at the Trust’s four hospital sites at The Royal Oldham, North Manchester General, Fairfield General and Rochdale Infirmary. These events give the public, staff and the Trust’s public members the opportunity to learn more about the how the Trust works. The Trust currently has 12,500 public members.
The event will run from 11 am and 3 pm and is taking place at the Education Centre, Fairfield General Hospital, Bury, BL9 7TD. Light refreshments will be provided.
