NORTH Manchester General Hospital is holding a ‘Whose Shoes’ engagement event on Monday 25 July which is open to new and expectant mothers and their families, and those who have experience of using Maternity Services at the hospital.

The free event is taking place at The Irish Heritage Centre, 1 Irish Town Way, Cheetham Hill, Manchester, M8 0RY on 25 July at 12.30pm until 4pm.

Anyone who works closely with Maternity Services at North Manchester General Hospital with women and families using maternity care is also welcome to attend.

The event is being run jointly by The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, (which manages North Manchester General Hospital, The Royal Oldham Hospital, Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, Rochdale Infirmary and community services), and NHS North Manchester CCG who also funded the event.

The event will follow the ‘Whose Shoes’ formula, which is a proven method of engagement in the health sector. In a nutshell, the event will help our doctors, nurses and midwives to re-engage with our patients and work together with energy and creativity to develop realistic and lasting solutions.

Deborah Carter, Divisional Director of Women and Childrens’ Services at The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust said:

“We are looking forward to welcoming women and their families and people with an interest in maternity services to our ‘Whose Shoes’ engagement event. We are fully committed to providing high quality women and family centred care and this is the next step on our journey to achieve this aim.

“We are grateful for the support of NHS North Manchester CCG in funding the first of the ‘Whose Shoes’ events and enabling us to hold future events in the same format. We intend to use the information gathered to help make our services focused on women, babies and families and embrace diversity in the local population.”
