Transparency of Care: Pennine Acute Trust welcomes publishing of patient data

The Trust has welcomed the opportunity to take part in a pilot initiative in the north of England which will shine a spotlight on the standard of patient care and performance in the NHS.

Foundation Trust membership magazine - January 2014

Issue seven of 'Your Hospitals, Your Pennine' the Trust's Foundation Trust (FT) membership magazine has been published.

As well as all the latest news, the winter 2014 edition contains an update from the chairman John Jesky, a membership update and details of the progress of our FT application.

Trust is in the right PLACE according to patients

An army of inspectors, including patients, have been trawling hospital wards and departments run by the Trust in a bid to inspect every nook and cranny, to review the standards of cleanliness and the environment for patients.

Pennine staff beating the bug

Staff at the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust are playing their part in beating the bug, with 60% of staff vaccinated so far against flu.

At the end of November we were ranked 5th out of 14 of our neighbouring NHS Trusts for staff uptake. Our aim is to reach 75% of staff.

Trust staff are encouraged to have the jab as part of our collective responsibility to provide safe patient care and to protect our patients.

The King’s Fund praises Trust’s volunteering initiative

The Trust’s volunteering initiative has been held up as one of three good examples of best practice in the NHS in a recent report by The King’s Fund.

In its report called ‘Volunteering in acute trusts in England,’ The King’s Fund takes an in-depth look at volunteering in the Trust and recommends it as an example of best practice to others.

Trust doctor recognised by Intensive Care Society  

Dr Veerappan, Associate Specialist in Critical Care at the Trust, has been awarded Distinguished Member of the Society by the Intensive Care Society. He was invited to be presented with the award at the society's State of the Art meeting at the Excel Centre in London on the 18th December 2013.

Website review 

The Trust is starting a process to review its public facing website and is seeking comments from staff, partners and the general public about how the website could be improved.
