Become a Member - Have Your Say

Welcome to the members section of the 

Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust website. Here you will find information about members' events and newsletters.  There is also information on the engagement activities involving patients, public and members and you can find out about the work of our Group Council of Governors.

As a member you will have a say in developing how health and social care is provided in your local community.  You can play a part in shaping improvements to our services and developing better health outcomes for your community.

If you are member of staff you are automatically registered as a ‘staff member’ of the Trust, unless you chose to opt out. If you decide to opt out, you simply need to contact our Membership & Engagement Manager, Angela Greenwood on 01706 517302, or email membership@pat.nhs.uk.  

What do members do? 


Membership is free and as a member you can :

  • Receive a free newsletter to keep up to date with latest news (by email or post)
  • Be consulted on plans for future developments to meet the needs of the community.
  • Attend free 'Medicine for Members' events - talks/tours
  • Help improve services within the hospital and the local health community
  • Help to raise funds to improve services in the hospital and the community
  • Volunteer in a variety of roles and setting
  • Elect representatives to serve on the Group of Council of Governors
  • Stand for election to the Group Council of Governors (to find out more about the work of the Group Council of Governors click here)

We realise that members will want to be involved in different ways and it is entirely up to you how involved you choose to be, from just receiving our regular newsletter,  to standing for election to the Group Council of Governors.

Membership Events

As part of our commitment to keeping members informed about services and specific health issues we are providing a programme of events.  All sessions are free and open to all, but we do ask you to reserve your place by emailing us at membership@pat.nhs.uk or calling the membership office on 01706 517302.  Please also let us know if you have any special requirements.

If you have a topic that you would like to see discussed at a future event, please email us and we will consider incorporating it into the programme.

Your Opinion Counts - Members' Engagement

We believe that listening to patients, public and members and using this feedback helps us to improve services.  The involvement of patients and the public is an essential part of providing services that meet the needs of the communities we serve.

We engage with patients and the public on a regular basis both formally and informally.

We use many ways to talk to the communities we serve. This will include surveys, focus groups, public meetings and other engagement.
