The Pennine West programme incorporates placements at both North Manchester General Hospital and Fairfield General Hospital.

North Manchester General Hospital is situated on the outskirts of Manchester city. Approximately 5 miles away from the city centre, all local transport has easy access to the hospital and runs on a regular basis.

Fairfield General Hospital is the third largest hospital run by the Trust. It is located 2 miles from the centre of Bury and 10.5 miles north of Manchester.

We have 48 FY1s and 48 FY2s The programme offers placements in Medicine, Surgery, ICU, Anaesthetics, Infectious Diseases, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Emergency Medicine and General Practice.

We also offer an academic track on the Pennine West programme.

All trainees are required to attend teaching and the sessions includes both clinical and non-clinical topics. The sessions take place at the Post-Graduate Centre, North Manchester General Hospital.

FY1 Teaching

F1 teaching takes place every Thursday 1pm - 5pm.

If you are going to be absent from a teaching session, you must send apologies in advance to foundation.west@pat.nhs.uk

FY2 Teaching

F2 teaching takes place every Tuesday 1pm – 5pm

If you are going to be absent from a teaching session, you must send apologies in advance to foundation.west@pat.nhs.uk

Within the Post-Graduate Centre there is a Library and IT facilities where all members are able to study, borrow books and gain internet access
