The Royal Oldham Hospital is situated on Rochdale Road, Oldham.  We are approximately 9 miles from Manchester city centre. All local transport has easy access to the hospital and runs on a regular basis. 

At present we have 51 Foundation year 1 & 51 Foundation year 2 trainees. 

Our Foundation year 1 trainees undertake placements in Medicine, Surgery, Anaesthetics, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Orthopaedics and A&E. Teaching is held each Thursday afternoon 1-5pm. The majority of the Foundation Year 1 teaching sessions are held at the Education Centre near the fountain gardens at the hospital.  

Our Foundation year 2 trainees train in Palliative Care, Medicine, General Practice, A&E, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry and Paediatrics. Teaching is every Tuesday afternoon1-5pm pm. The majority of of the Foundation Year 2 teaching sessions are held at the Education Centre with some sessions at the Clinical Skills Lab.   The Foundation Year 2 trust wide teaching will vary across the 4 sites of the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

Within the Education Centre there is a Library and IT facilities where all members are able to study, borrow books and gain internet access.

FY1 Teaching

F1 teaching takes place every Thursday 1pm-5pm.

FY2 Teaching

F2 teaching takes place every Tuesday 1pm-5pm.

If you are going to be absent from a teaching session, you must send apologies in advance to foundation.east@pat.nhs.uk
